How to Get There
Day 01, Starting Point: Begin with a short drive to Thankot, followed by a cable car ride to Chandragiri Hill. Here, you can visit a Hindu temple and enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan snow-capped peaks, including Mount Everest, weather permitting. There are also restaurants where you can relax with food and drinks while taking in the views.
Hike to Chitlang: From Chandragiri, start your trek down to Chitlang through the jungle using local trails. For an easier path, you can also follow the road. After about an hour, you'll reach the village marking the start of Chitlang. Along the way, you'll witness local life, with people working on farms and tending to their cattle.
Overnight in Chitlang: After another hour of walking, you'll arrive in Chitlang. Here, you can visit Nepal's first goat cheese factory, taste the cheese, and buy some to take home. Spend the evening relaxing at your hotel, enjoying the serene atmosphere.
From Chitlang to Markhu
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast, begin your walk down to Markhu. Most of this walk is along a quiet road, making it an enjoyable experience. You'll pass through an old Newari village, where you can see traditional Nepali houses, some of which were damaged by the 2015 earthquake.
Goat Farming: You'll also visit a government-managed goat farm set in a beautiful landscape before finally reaching Markhu Kulekhani. Here, you can stay in a hotel with a swimming pool and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Explore Mohani Jharna (Waterfall)
Day 3: After breakfast, hike to the stunning Mohani Jharna (waterfall), where you can swim in natural pools. Return to Markhu for lunch and then drive back to Kathmandu. If you have extra time, consider staying another night in Markhu and explore Paharping and Dakshinkali on your way back to Kathmandu.
