Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass Trek: This trek is one of the best in the Everest region, offering an alternative to the crowded Everest Base Camp trail. The journey follows the same route to Namche Bazaar, a bustling Sherpa town, before heading to the stunning Gokyo Lakes. Along the way, you’ll experience breathtaking Himalayan views, beautiful glacier lakes, and the unique culture and lifestyle of the Sherpa people. Highlights include incredible views from Gokyo Ri and crossing the Renjo La Pass (5,360 meters), which connects Gokyo Valley to the Nangpala Valley, a historic trade route between Nepal and Tibet.
The best time to trek to Gokyo Lakes and Renjola Pass is during the spring (March-Jun) or autumn (September-December) seasons. These periods offer stable weather, clear skies, and minimal rainfall, providing optimal conditions for trekking.

Morning Drive and Flight to Lukla: During the peak seasons [September 25th to November 25 and March 20 to 5th Jun], a 4-hour drive from Kathmandu takes you to Manthali Airport for your flight to Lukla. In other seasons, direct flights are available from Kathmandu. Upon reaching Lukla, you’ll have some time to rest before starting your trek to Phakding village. The trail passes through charming farm villages with gentle ups and downs, offering beautiful views along the way.
[4 hours drive, 15 Minutes Flight, 3 Hours Hike]
After an overnight stay in Phakding, the morning trek crosses the Dudh Kosi River and passes through the villages of Tok-Tok, Bhenkar, and Monjo. You’ll then arrive at the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park.
From there, the trail follows the riverbanks, leading to the famous Hillary Bridge. After crossing the bridge, a steep 2-hour climb takes you to the vibrant Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. [6-7 Hike]
After breakfast, enjoy a hike to the Everest View Hotel at 3,880 meters, one of the most scenic points of the trek. From here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mount Everest (8,848 meters), Lhotse (8,516 meters), and Ama Dablam (6,856 meters).
The hike continues down to Khumjung Village, the largest Sherpa village in the Khumbu Valley. Visit the historic Khumjung Monastery, home to a legendary relic, and the Hillary School, established by Sir Edmund Hillary. End the day with an overnight stay in Khumjung. [3 Hours Hike]
The trek continues on a well-maintained path in the morning, surrounded by towering mountains in every direction. The trail then enters a beautiful rhododendron forest, gradually climbing as it makes its way to Dole. Along the way, you’ll pass through Mongla Dada, where you’ll find a few tea houses offering rest and refreshments with best mountain panorama views. [5-6 Hours Hike]
Leaving the tree line behind, a brief climb starts the day and a gradual climb follows for the rest of the day. The trail passes through a couple of tea shops at Luza and finally reaches Machhermo with Cho Oyu (8201 meters) appearing to the north. [4 Hours Hike]
The trail moves up into the valley on easy terrain and starts getting steeper near the first lake of the Gokyo Valley. After passing two smaller lakes, the trail leads to the third lake commonly known as the Gokyo Lake with Mount Cho Oyo towering in the background. [4 Hours Hike]
Today, we begin the trek early, hiking for about 3 hours to reach Gokyo Ri. From the summit, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of four of the world’s highest peaks: Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and Makalu. After taking in the stunning views, we descend back to the hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful walk around the serene Gokyo Lake. [3 Hours Hike]
Today will be a bit more challenging as we cross one of the most famous passes in the Everest region. There are three major passes in Everest, and this is one of them. The day begins with an easy trail along the lake, then gradually becomes a steep ascent all the way to the top of the pass. At the summit, you’ll enjoy views similar to those from Gokyo Ri. Afterward, a steep descent leads into a new valley, ending at Lungden. [7-8 Hours Hike]
The trail keeps descending and loses altitude at a consistent pace, and reaches the village of Marlung. After Marlung, the trail slowly moves towards the famous village of Thame on an easier terrain. (4 hours) [4 Hours Hike]
A drop into the river starts the day and an undulating trail leads into Namche Bazaar, finally connecting the trek again with the same route taken at the start of the trek stay at Namche Bazaar. [4 Hours Hike]
We trek back to Lukla via the same route taken before and end the trek at Lukla. We also bid farewell to our support crew and formally end their trek for them as well. [6-7 Hours Hike]
Enjoy a 15-minute morning flight to Manthali, followed by a 4-hour drive back to Kathmandu. We will drop you at your hotel or accommodation, marking the end of your unforgettable Everest Himalayan journey with Community Trek. [15 Minutes Flight, 4 Hours Drive]
